About This Blog

The butterfly picture in the upper left corner is a symbol and reminder for me of the spiritual process. Sometimes I am the caterpillar - barely able to see far enough in front of me to put one foot in front of the other. Sometimes I find myself in that dark place of the soul, and I remind myself that it is simply my cocoon. While all may seem dark, and I may feel like everything is totally disintegrating around me (and in me!) a miracle is at work in my life and I will soon be able to fly! I love those days where I experience the butterfly in my life! The ability to fly above all the mundane earthy matters and remember the truth and experience God's power in tangible ways in my life are wonderful times indeed that occur more and more often as I continue this journey! Thank you, God!

If you are so inclined, I invite you to journey with me as we seek the promised land together. While I hope to share some "faithbooking" (scrapbook pages or artistic journaling about my faith journey), much of the time the journey may well be seen in words, rather than pictures. I invite you to create your own pictures. How do these things play out in your life? I'd love to hear from you about your own spiritual journey!

"...then shall thy health spring forth speedily"

In this winter/holiday season, I often get sick and see that many others do as well.  This is not something I enjoy, so I really took note of Isaiah 58:8 where the promise is given that serves as the title of this post - also verse 10 that promises "then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday."  These promises have been brought to me many times over the last month and I'm learning more and more about them.  (See my first post, "Why this Blog?" for more information about this.)

I, too, have been praying and learning regarding health issues. The Apostle Paul says that he wishes above all things that we would prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers. Apparently the "soul prospering" must come first before we can claim the promises regarding health.

The "then shall. . ." in the above verses refers back to the previous two verses regarding "the fast that I have chosen." I'm good at fasting--a water fast of a whole week isn't a problem for me--but God is talking about a different kind of fast; the kind of fast that leads to good health--spiritually and physically, it seems.

As I think about this, I'm reminded of the text that says, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine," and I know that I get my greatest joys from helping or blessing others. Thanks for a very thought-provoking post.

Yes! This post was quite short because I was feeling pretty ill at the time, but what you have written, Esther, is very much in alignment with what I have been learning as well. Thanks for your additions!
